This page is for displaying quick process photos of the before, during and after condition of parts that are being refurbished, or thrown away and replaced with new and the reasons why. The internet has many photo pages of project cars, but few indicate the thought processes including costs and availability of replacement parts and sequencing of the work. Seabiscuit aims to transparently and thoroughly outline the process for others.
Experimentation and Teardown:
I experimented with some cleaning and buffing compounds. A good friend who is experienced with the restoration of vehicles in the $100K range introduced me to some products, 3M FinesseIT is used here with a lambswool buffing pad on a variable speed drill. Use very little FinesseIT and start out slow and when you feel the oxidation break, take buffing pad off the surface remove excess FinesseIT and do a quick high speed buff to the area. Voila! It takes a little practice but not much.
This area was treated similarly as the bonnet, with great results.
The most dramatic area for metal repair is the driver’s side floor. Also, a restorable four-speed transmission is on reserve for installation this summer.

Hi
My name is Federico and I’m restoring my Triumph GT6 Mk II/1970. If you are interested you can visit my own website: http://www.spitfire-mk2.ch. At the moment I would like restore the seats. The originally seats are without the high back. Now it ist my intention to weld an head rest to the original seat-frame in order to build a copy of the gt6+-seats. For this reason I’m loking for more information about the gt6+seats-frames. May I ask you if You have a picture of your Seat-frames? Thank you very much for your support!
Best Regards
Federico

Federico,
I ma planning on tearing down my high back seats. I will send pictures of frames once it is done. It will be a few weeks.
Jeffrey
Federico,
I visited your site and would like to commend you on your beautiful work. I do not have the photos of the seat frames you seek, yet I will ask our 100 person strong club, especially the GT6+ owners if they have record of a frame.
Am I assuming correctly, that you are looking for logical weld points and internal metal configuration of a factory headrest for the GT6+?
